Why should you submit?
2009 - special competition: East-West
This is your chance: EMERGEANDSEE calls for entries for a new competition! Additionally to the Official Competition, in 2009 we want to see the most impressive films about the topic "East-West".
In our world today the axis East-West gains new importance, but has numerous meanings. What this might mean is totally up to you.

It might be the gap between Eastern and Western Germany, or in Europe, the two poles Eastern and Western states, the USA and the Arabic world...it is your idea and your point of view that matters.

Show us what you think of the world and send us your film before the 1st of January 2009 using our registration form.

Why should you submit?

It's absolutely free
Well, you have to buy a stamp.

Exposure to the right people
We show the films to a very wide audience of people, and we specifically target professionals in the film and TV industry, as well as people involved in other film festivals and galleries. Combine this with the fact that your film may well be shown in several countries and you end up with exposure you'd be hard pushed to achieve alone.

See your film on the big screen
That's all some people want, and that's part of the pleasure. Trust us it's much more fun to see your work on a cinema screen in front of a few hundred people than watching it on the 3-inch display of your camcorder.

Networking
You can meet many other students, filmmakers, cinephiles plus many other interesting people who come to see our show, so don't forget to stay after the screening, have a drink and meet new people.

Future benefits
EMERGEANDSEE is getting bigger and better. We're always looking at ways of showing student films in a variety of different places and ways around the world, so you'll be getting more and more exposure as time goes on.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for original and creative films, videos and animations from students.

There is no restriction on genre, subject matter or technique.

We choose films on the quality of ideas rather than spotless execution.

Watch some of the videos we have chosen in the past here .

See the submission form for a full list of conditions.

FAQ

I am not a student anymore, but I made a film when I was at college. Can I submit that film?

Strictly no, sorry. Only exception: We accept graduation films for the first deadline following graduation.

Are you making money with other people's work?
No, not at all. At the moment everybody is working voluntarily (Thank you!).
