EMERGEANDSEE Berlin 2009

There are two competitions waiting for submissions. In 2009 next to our Official EMERGEANDSEE Competition with the best student short films, we will open a platform for films dealing with the topic "EAST-WEST". In our society today these two terms get loaded with more and more different meanings. We would like to see what filmmakers make of it. This competition will be open for young filmmakers up to 30 years of age and the films should not exceed a duration of 20 minutes. We are looking forward to your films!

STUDENTS - Submit for our Official EMERGEANDEE Competition (maximum duration of film 10 minutes)

ALL FILMMAKERS (until 30 years) - Submit to our EAST-WEST Competition

EMERGEANDSEE 2008 - A short overview

Another amazing event has past. EMERGEANDSEE 2008 saw an international exchange of ideas and young filmmakers proudly presenting their fascinating work.

The jury selected "Video 3000", an animation made by Marc Schleiss, to be the winner of "THE EYE". The audience award went to Rodeon Brodsky with his mocumentary "Tolya". More information on the winning films will be published soon.

The Yet Another Media Conference presented 9 lectures on the future of moving image. Experts from different fields gave the audience a deep insight in their thoughts on this topic. Photos, impressions and recordings of the Yet Another Media Conference lectures can be found on our festival blog .

And now we all have to wait for next year. But until then you can submit your films for two competitions. In 2009 next to our official EMERGEANDSEE Competition, we have a topical competition called "EAST-WEST". The news is that filmmakers up to 30 years of age can submit their films which are allowed to have a maximum duration of 20 minutes. The Yet Another Media Conference 2009 will deal with globalisation versus transculturalism in media.

That's Us

EMERGEANDSEE is an international platform for young short film. It is unique in Europe and has successfully been around for seven years. EMERGEANDSEE is completely independent and run by students who feel committed to support fellow student filmmakers and to show the world the latest moving image work from creative workshops of art, media and film schools.

There are numerous students in the whole world, who produce short films in courses and in their spare time. They are all inspired by the world and what they encounter in class. Of course, aesthetics matter, but a good idea is much more important than technical perfection. This is why EMERGEANDSEE's motto is "promoting future moving ideas".
